Rachel and Josh were recently married at the beautiful Summerfields Country Estate in Bitten. We started off the day with lovely blue skies and some stormy clouds rolled in just at the start of the ceremony but fortunately heavy rain held off for the rest of the day.
Josh is Canadian and met Rachel when she was on one of her visits to Canada. Since then they have been travelling backwards and forwards and when apart have been using up bandwidth on Skype!
They had a few different features for their wedding, both Rachel and Josh are very laid back so the guys started off the day with a little fishing down by the lake, followed by testing out the boat to make sure it would float as they had said they would love some photos in it later on! We’ve often wondered if it was seaworthy so now we know!
Rachel and Josh had written cards to each other so before the ceremony so we found an ideal spot so they could each read each others cards without having to see each other. Rachel probably has to have been one of our most excited brides to be getting married and so relaxed!
After the ceremony we had some laughs with the bridal party who enjoyed acting out one or two of our suggestions, taken a little further by one of the groomsman splitting his trousers!
Rachel and Josh are known for their sense of adventure so they had to have a go in the boat, drifting off without an oar was no drama for them and this was followed up with some shots with a friend’s motorbike.
Together Rachel and Josh were very natural in front of the camera and we were grateful we had another little session with them after dinner at sunset. This was partly to let the family set up a surprise slideshow of Rachel and Josh’s lives, from growing up to the start of their relationship.
The reception room was beautifully decorated with flowers styled by two members of Rachel’s family and the cake was supplied by another one of the guests.
In keeping with their action adventure streak they rode off into the night on the motorbike, quickly changing vehicles down the road before heading up to the city that night!
They’ve just enjoyed a lovely honeymoon in the Whitsundays which was a big surprise for Rachel. They will shortly be heading back to Canada for a while but we hope to see them back in Australia soon!
